About Us

Owl's Hill Nature Sanctuary is a non-profit located in northern Williamson County. We provide a protected home for the more than 2,000 species of local flora and fauna that thrive in the hills, forests, creek, ponds and meadows of our 300-acre nature sanctuary. We’re a special place for visitors of all ages to explore the great outdoors, learn about native Tennessee wildlife and connect with nature.

Our Impact
For last fiscal year ending 9/30/21 (under COVID-19 restrictions):

Environmental Education
- 7,964 Visitors, representing 36 U.S. states and 26 Tennessee counties
- 1,955 Day Pass visitors, a 122% increase over FY20
- 6 completed Eagle Scout projects, representing 63 workers and 643 hours of service
- 274 campers (aged 5-16) spent 10,682 hours outside over 11 weeks
- 50 school programs reaching 2,028 students and teachers from 12 Middle Tennessee school districts
- 120 public programs offered year ‘round
- 20 adults completed the Tennessee Naturalist Program course and 11 achieved certification status

Conservation & Research
- 1.5 acres of invasive plant species removed
- 57 individual volunteers dedicated 878 hours to Citizen Science projects
- 801 birds recorded representing 58 species
- 962 butterflies recorded representing 42 species
- Achieved Level 1 Arboretum certification
- 115 native perennials, shrubs, and trees installed in the new Bird-Friendly Garden
