Are you a professional with expertise in fundraising, legal, or accounting, strategic planning, marketing, technology, photography looking to make a meaningful impact in your community? AbleVoices, a trailblazing nonprofit organization that amplifies the voices of individuals with disabilities through powerful medium of photography, is seeking passionate and committed board members to help us grow and sustain our mission.

AbleVoices is truly one-of-a-kind—no one else does what we do! We provide unique opportunities for self-expression, social and community connection, and work-based learning through photography for youth and adults with disabilities and mental health conditions.

It’s an exciting time to join our board! The possibilities for good are boundless as we expand our impact in Williamson County, across Tennessee, and even nationally. Together, we can create transformative opportunities for individuals to share their voices and tell their stories in powerful ways.

What We're Looking For

We are seeking board members who:

1. Have a passion for our cause – You believe in the power of photography/art to transform lives and are committed to supporting individuals with disabilities and mental health challenges.
2. Are eager to participate – You have the time, energy, and enthusiasm to actively engage in board meetings, events, and committee work.
3. Bring preparedness and professionalism – Whether it’s reviewing meeting materials, preparing for events, or networking on our behalf, you come ready to contribute meaningfully.
4. Thrive in committees – You enjoy collaborating with others to advance specific projects and goals, bringing your unique skills to the table.
5. Express ideas and innovate – You’re a creative thinker who offers solutions to challenges and inspires others to think outside the box.
6. Are curious and eager to learn – You approach board service with an open mind, ready to explore new perspectives and gain valuable experience.
7. Demonstrate stewardship and service – You’re committed to advancing AbleVoices’ mission, both during your board term and beyond.
8. Communicate effectively – You have strong interpersonal and communication skills that help drive the organization forward and resolve challenges collaboratively.

Your Expertise Matters

To support AbleVoices’ strategic goals, we are particularly seeking board members with experience in:

• Fundraising – Help us secure the resources needed to grow our programs.
• Legal – Guide us in compliance, contracts, and risk management.
• Accounting/CPA – Ensure financial transparency and effective resource allocation.
• Strategic Planning- Assist in developing long-term vision and create strategic plans to achieve organizational objectives. 
• Marketing- Assist in developing communication strategies, managing brand image, and engaging with target audiences. 
• Technology- Technical knowledge on our computers and applications we use for our programming (Apple products)
• Photography- That's what we do!

Time Commitment

Board members meet in-person quarterly with mid- quarter virtual check-in, participate in one committee, and attend occasional events. The estimated time commitment is 5 hours per month.
