Mario Ramos, Chairman

Member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), Mario received the Juris Doctor degree from California Western School of Law, and his LL.M.from The London School of Economics and Political Science. He received a Scholarship and Diploma from Hague Academy of International Law and earned a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Mario is former Chairman of the Nashville Bar Immigration Committee and served as past chairman of the Hispanic Achievers Program of the YMCA of Middle Tennessee. He is a member of Leadership Nashville, Class of 1995-1996. Mario is AILA Advocacy Director for the Mid-South serving on the Grassroots Campaigns / Immigration Works Committee and on the US-Mexico Plus/Essential Workers Committee and the Hispanic Interest Committee. Mario Ramos is the recipient of the NAHCC 2008 Hispanic Entrepreneur Achievement Award. Mario was elected to the board of directors of the NAHCC in the 2011 election and has served one term as Chairman of the board of directors.

Rolando Toyos, M.D, Owner/Founder, Toyos Clinics 

Dr. Toyos is originally from California. He graduated from Santa Rosa High School where he played Varsity Basketball, Baseball and Football and was a finalist for the CIF Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award. He received his Bachelors and Masters degrees from The University of California, Berkeley and Stanford University, where he was a straight A student. Before beginning medical school, Dr. Toyos worked as a high school teacher and basketball coach. He won the National Teaching Award from Columbia University for his science curriculum development and his work with at-risk children. He then received his medical degree at the University of Illinois where he was Class President, graduating with James Scholar Academic Honors and received a community service award for helping Chicago City Public Schools develop a pre-med program for students interested in medicine.  He completed his internship in Internal Medicine at Illinois Masonic Hospital in Chicago. He completed his Ophthalmology residency at Northwestern University and Chicago Children's Hospital. Dr. Toyos spent one year performing LASIK at the  Assil Eye Institute in Beverly Hills.
Dr. Toyos is Board Certified in Ophthalmology and specializes in Cataract Surgery, LASIK, Glaucoma, and Dry Eye. He is one of the most experienced surgeons in the country, completing over 35,000 cataract surgeries, 20,000 glaucoma laser treatments and 25,000 LASIK surgeries.    He was the first surgeon to combine Laser Cataract Surgery with Aqualase creating a new Laser For Cataract Surgery L4C procedure.  He holds various patents including one for a light based technology used for the treatment of Dry Eye.  Dr. Toyos is the inventor of the procedure Intense Pulse Light IPL for Dry Eye Disease.  Recently the United Nations (UNESCO) honored Dr. Toyos with an Innovation Award.  He has trained hundreds of surgeons both nationally and internationally on surgical techniques, medications and new technologies. He has authored several papers and books. One book for medical students, now in its 3rd edition, was a best seller on college campuses for several years.  His newest book Dry Eye Disease Treatment in the Year 2020 was number 2 on the Amazon Best Sellers List.  He belongs to many professional organizations including the Sports Ophthalmology Society of America (SOSA) of which he is the current president.
Dr. Toyos has worked with various professional sports teams and organizations like the NFL, NBA, MLB, and World Boxing Association, Memphis Grizzlies, Seattle Mariners, and Memphis Redbirds to name a few. He has been named one of The Best Doctors and is the only eye surgeon in Tennessee voted Top Doc by Trusted Lasik Surgeons.

Dr. Toyos is involved in the community. He won The Humanitarian Award by the Jazz Foundation of America for providing free surgical care to the displaced victims of Hurricane Katrina. He recently won the Leadership Award from National Hispanic Professional Organization. He volunteers his time to Eye Care America, a national program that provides eye care to the poor. The clinic has completed mission trips to Nicaragua, Honduras, Columbia and Haiti. He has been a board member of Ballet Memphis and the Memphis Rock & Soul Museum. He has won several community awards like, CEO of the Year Inside Memphis Business, The Memphis Business Journal's Top 40 Under 40, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's Memphis Finest, and Memphis Magazine's Who's Who.
Toyos Clinic has been recognized as one the fastest growing companies in the United States by Inc. Magazine.

​As the founding Director of the Office of Community Relations at Belmont University, Joyce Espy Searcy focuses on building relationships with Nashville’s neighborhoods, community groups, non-profits and government entities.
 
A graduate of Fisk University and Peabody at Vanderbilt, and with further study at Harvard Business School and Vanderbilt’s Owen School, Joyce’s passion for community issues led to 45years in higher education and non-profit arenas. She taught at Fisk University, Tennessee State University, and MeharryMedical College, was consultant at Hospital Corporation of America, and at Bethlehem Centers of Nashville she served as President and C.E.O. for over 22 years. Joyce also facilitates non-profit development and diversity and inclusion training.
 
Joyce has served on the national boards of directors for Girl Scouts of the U.S.A and the YWCA of the U.S.A. where she was Regional Vice-President for Mid-States. On the Nashville Chamber board, Joyce chaired the Chamber Report Card. Currently, she sits on the boards of the Nashville Public Library, the Nashville Public Library Foundation, is secretary/treasurer of the Nashville Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, is secretary for Leadership Nashville’s Board of Trustees, and secretary for the South Nashville Fellowship Community Development Corporation.
 
Her numerous prestigious awards include the Athena Award, the Academy for Women of Achievement, “Amiga of the Year”, and Community Service Award from the Metropolitan Police Department. Recently, Joyce was elected to International Women’s Forum, a global organization advancing women’s leadership.

Loraine studied towards her bachelor degree in accounting at the University of Mayor de San Simón of Cochabamba in Bolivia and is co-founder of Hispanic Paper (DBA La Noticia Newspaper) in Nashville. Her work has allowed her to get involved in many Hispanic outreach efforts including business projects and community events. Loraine completed a Mini-MBA (TM) program at Belmont University in 2012.  
Loraine received the SBA Business Advocate Recognition in 2007 and the NAHCC Outstanding Leadership and Service Award in 2008. 
As part of her volunteer involvement, she is a past board member of the American Red Cross and has served on the ALIAS Music Ensemble, and Comprehensive Care Center Board of Directors. 
Loraine served on the Economic and Workforce Development Resource Team for NashvilleNext, a Growth Plan for the future of Nashville and Davidson County over the next 25 years.
Loraine launched Casa Segovia-Paz a gourmet food service/catering business venture in 2012, and served in Metro Nashville Human Relations Commission as a Commissioner appointed by Nashville Mayor Karl Dean.



About the NAHCC:
Founded in January of 2000, the NAHCC is the oldest, longest running Hispanic business association in Tennessee, dedicated to support the sustainable economic growth and development of Hispanic entrepreneurs. The NAHCC represents the interests of small business members in the Nashville and surrounding areas connecting entrepreneurs and micro-enterprises, facilitating strategic alliances, networking and sharing of business and financial best practices. The NAHCC is one of the first Hispanic chambers in the nation to receive the CTI Minority Chamber Certification Designation and is recipient of the "Chamber of the Year Award" by the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.  The NAHCC signed a Inter-chamber Corporate Partnership Agreement with Williamson Inc., last year to increase minority business engagement.
